Agriculture, a predominant economic sector for many years, only represents about 4.5% of the GDP and employs 4% of the active population. Cereals, fruits, vegetables and wine are the main crops.

The industrial sector contributes to 1/3 of the country's GDP and is largely open to foreign investors. Automobile and electronics are the two main sectors, whith about 30% of the country's exports and 15% of the GDP.
